Post Natal Exercises

Pregnancy is one of the most wonderful experiences that can happen to a woman. Being able to bear life in the womb can be life changing and makes a woman more responsible and mature when it comes to living. However along with this joy, several adjustments have to be adapted so as to ensure good health to the baby and yours. Some are change in eating habits, dealing with preparations to the child delivery, medical checkups and so on. Some women may deal with emotional changes such as depression and also weight gain. When it comes to weight, the body will naturally lose weight after pregnancy. However this can be done faster with post natal exercises.

Post natal exercises are activities that could help the body heal itself and promote fast recover. When done properly, it can be effective in losing weight.
Some of the exercises that could be performed after pregnancy are the following:
“    Brisk walking.
“    Swimming.
“    Aqua- aerobics.
“    Yoga.
“    Pilates.
“    Low impact aerobic workouts.
“    Light weight training.
“    Cycling.

Yet before engaging to post natal exercises or any physical activities, doctor should be consulted first. This is to ensure that the body is already prepared to perform physical activities and cannot pose danger to the health of the woman.

A woman engaged with exercises after pregnancy should be wary of the following:

“    Increased fatigue.
“    Muscle aches and pains.
“    Colour changes to lochia (post-partum vaginal flow) to pink or red.
“    Heavier lochia flow.
“    Lochia starts flowing again after it had stopped.

If any of the above mentioned are experienced, exercising should be stopped immediately and a physician should be consulted.

Shedding off some fats after pregnancy is a good idea to maintain a fit and healthy body. However, the body should not be overexerted and a doctor’s clearance should be secured. With post natal exercises done in the right way, you are on the path to better health after pregnancy.
